Success Stories

Achieving Excellence

"I couldn't have done it without Rainier Scholars..."

Mr. Daniel Ewnetu, Cohort 9, is a current senior at Oregon Episcopal School, a boarding and day school in Portland, Oregon. He entered Rainier Scholars in 2009. His work ethic, commitment and willingness to take risks as evidenced by his leaving home for boarding school in 9th grade made him a shining example of excellence from the beginning.

Daniel was our first scholar to attend OES and has blazed the trail for so many other scholars to follow. He has excelled in both the classroom and in athletics, and in his junior year, won his class's highest award for the 11th grader who best embodies the characteristics, qualities and aspects of leadership embraced by the school.

He was elected student body president in his senior year and has taken to heart the concept that he represents himself, his family and Rainier Scholars in all that he does in the world.

Last week, Daniel learned that he was admitted early decision to Northwestern University in Chicago, where he intends to study business and finance. This is a dream come true for Daniel and his parents.

"Since the summer of my sixth grade, I have been pushed and pushed beyond what I thought were my limits and have achieved heights I had never anticipated. I am grateful for the enrichment I have received and continue to receive from Rainier Scholars and I'm sure it will raise me even higher in my next four years."

Congratulations Daniel. We could not be more proud. #pathwaysofpurpose #collegedreams #livesofleadership #rainierscholars
