The First Step

Rainier Scholars is an academic enrichment and support program geared toward hardworking, motivated students of color. We seek to serve students from those groups most underrepresented on college campuses and who have the greatest number of barriers to a college education. Over 85% of our families are low or moderate income and over 90% of scholars come from households where they will be the first in their families to attend college. In addition to students that we invite and those nominated by a teacher, any student/family need only to attend a Family Information Meeting in order to receive an application.

Families and their students are encouraged to learn more about Rainier Scholars before applying to our program by attending one of our Family Information Meetings. The purpose of the meeting is to explain who we are and our admission's criteria. Parents /guardians will be able to complete an admission application if it is determined this opportunity may be a good fit for their family.
